Come On In!

Entrances and gates welcome the outside world into our space. Each house or business is unique as it beckons to the passerby.

The open iron work combines with the solidity of the brick to anchor this welcoming gate near the waterfront. Open work allows the beauty of the fencing to show without blocking the seabreezes.

Walk down the street and there is a traditional entrance with flanking urns. The front porch invites you to come and sit, gaze at the waterview and share a glass of sweet tea.

The streetside gate is traditional and solid although it welcomes the visitor with its lower height.

Further along the walk, a formal door with old panes of glass beckons at the top of the solid brick steps.

There are a few places still sporting protection of their doors and windows from the gale winds of Hurricane Irene. The entrance to the church is boarded and yet with the wide brick steps, there is still a welcome, just a need to find the side door.

Back near the waterfront, there is a sign of growth as the vine has clambored over the brick open work wall. The peep hole at the top of the louvered gate is used from either side.

Stroll the streets and sidewalks of Southport and enjoy the many styles of entrances and gates. Notice that each welcomes visitors and beckons to "Come on in!"
