Friends Along the Way

Southport and neighboring towns are decorating for the holidays with lights, trees, banners and lots of posters advertising holiday concerts and events. We all manage to decorate in some way at this time of year, both inside and out. Some people decorate all year long and it was fun to walk through town while the weather was warm and breezy and see the many different decorations already out.

Entrance ways are still sporting fall colors, reds are beginning to peep through the fall mums. Each doorway is dressed in fall finery, here is a broom for sweeping the goblins and witches of Halloween out of your life before they trick you!

Stacking pumpkins and gourds is a fall decoration similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Soon the colorful creatures of summer will give way to snowmen and Santa's reindeer, yet the mushrooms, roosters and butterflies add color and interest as the walk continues.

Stop in and see the bullfrog decked out in his fall finery, then peruse the shelves for the little folks in your life. Toad and Friends or puppets and stories. Puzzles by the dozens.

The holidays come with their special lights and angels but when walking along a sidewalk, don't forget to look along the edge, there might be a special friend to join you on your walk.
