Get Ready 'Cause Here They Come

The "Holidays" are coming. Halloween is over, the air is getting crisp and the shadows are longer in the afternoon. There are frost warnings in the air and flocks of birds swooping through the fairways.

It's time for the Christmas Open House in Southport. The shops are ready. Displays to entice you spill over counters and bins full of fun toys for adults and kids alike are ready for your visit.

Four days of shopping beckon. Although there will be some of you who miss the beginning of this holiday season, those of you ready to find the perfect ornament, the ideal hat or outfit for the neighborhood caroling party or the special pet ornament, there are shops ready for you.

Stop in to visit with Pamela Sexton at Cattail Cottage. Warm homey aromas, soft wind chimes and trees with country and sophisticated ornaments greet you on entering. Jewelry displays, candles and ornaments for doors and windows sparkle in every corner.

Outside are flags and garden ornaments, wreaths and mailbox covers greet you at the door. Stop in, there's much to see and as a coordinator of the Open House, Pam will gladly mention other merchants you can visit.

Up the road, across the street is a fun clothing store, Boo Roo's that carries all kinds of fun women's clothing.

Hats, scarves and sweaters are featured on displays. Vera Bradley fabrics fill one wall with bright colors and patterns. To keep the little ones in mind there is a section carrying the cute costumes and imaginative toys for babies and toddlers. Whether you are seeking warm wooly socks or holiday fashions, stop by and check out the beautiful riches for your gifts this year.

Calling all pet lovers searching for the perfect gift for their pet or the owner! Stop by and get some flavored treats for the dog or a new doormat for the dog lover.

Filled with humorous and useful gifts for pet owners and their masters,  Four Legs Good will treat you with laughter and the joys of pet ownership. For the weary, the Sit/Stay bench outside beckons you to sit a spell before finishing your holiday shopping.

Consider these just samples of the local holiday offerings in Southport. Many shops are participating in the Christmas Open House and will be open later for your convenience. Staying local supports your Southport merchants who hope to help you find that perfect gift for everybody on your list. Don't forget: November 3-5 in Downtown Southport. See you there!
